Dented shingles are signs of hail damage which is covered by your homeowners insurance. Don’t delay your roofing inspection because the problem will grow and the roof repair will be more extensive.
Staining, Streaking, and Moss
When you see staining, streaking, or moss, it’s not only unsightly but it’s damaging the shingles. These are signs of organic growth. Organisms such as blue algae which cause the staining and streaking are literally eating away at your roof. They grow when there is excess moisture and can be a sign of a bigger problem.
Wet Insulation
If the insulation in your attic is damp or compressed, you may have a roof leak. If you see that your insulation in one area of your attic doesn’t look the same as the rest of the space, look up in the general area. You may find dark spots on the roof or worse see daylight.
